society-hall of Naples for 150 years and more.
"Gambrinus" is a legendary tipsy gure of joviality, Johannes Primus, an European culture hero, icon of
beer and brewing.
In 1890 it was wonderfully restored by Antonio Curri, one of the greatest architects of that time and
adorned with paintings, statues, stuccos and lunettes by the most renowned artists of the age.
Since the Italian Uni cation, chiefs of state, politicians, intellectuals, tourists and common people have
been visited Gambrinus. We cannot fail to recall Gabriele D'Annunzio, Oscar Wilde, Ernest Hemingway,
Sigmund Freud, Matilde Serao, Benedetto Croce, the Savoy Family, Luciano Pavarotti and Angela Merkel as
